Tell Me What’s Going On With Your Pool

Share what you see, what the water tests show, and what changed recently. The clearer the details, the more useful the troubleshooting direction can be.

Before you send

Five details that make a pool question easier to answer

01

What you see

Describe color, clarity, stains, foam, algae location, weak returns, air bubbles, leaks, or unusual equipment behavior.

02

Current test results

Include free and combined chlorine, pH, alkalinity, stabilizer, calcium, salt, or other dependable readings you have.

03

Pool and equipment

Share approximate gallons, surface type, sanitizer, pump, filter type, heater, salt cell, and cleaner where relevant.

04

What changed

Mention storms, heavy use, refill water, a recent cleaning, equipment work, a new chemical, or a long period without circulation.

05

What you already tried

List products and amounts when known. Avoid adding more chemicals until you understand how the previous treatment changed the water.

Photos help

Keep labels and gauges readable

You can describe photos in the message. Include model numbers, error codes, filter pressure, and where the issue appears.

Best fit

Educational troubleshooting

Questions about water balance, circulation, equipment basics, maintenance routines, and how to choose the next sensible check.

Response style

Plain-language direction

I aim to explain the likely troubleshooting order and the reason behind it—not prescribe a mystery chemical without test results.

Important limit

Not emergency service

For electrical damage, gas odor, chemical exposure, major flooding, or a dangerous pressure-vessel condition, shut equipment down safely and contact the appropriate qualified professional or emergency service.

Before adding pool chemicals

Follow every product label and your equipment manual. Never mix pool chemicals together, and do not combine chlorine products with acid. If the pool’s condition could affect swimmer safety, keep people out until water quality and equipment operation are confirmed.
