Learn from real-world experience

Hey, I’m Chris.

I built Swimming Pool Resource to take the guesswork out of pool care and give first-time owners clear, trustworthy guidance they can use.

Advice shaped by thousands of real service decisions.

I spent more than seven years owning and operating a large pool service company in Northern California. My work covered residential and commercial pools, routine maintenance, startups, green cleans, drain services, chlorine washes, acid washes, and filter cleaning and replacement.

I was also a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and a member of the California Pool Association, adding formal operator training and industry involvement to that hands-on experience.

That experience taught me that pool owners do not need more jargon. They need a dependable order of operations, an explanation of why each step matters, and honest guidance about when a job belongs with a professional.

How this advice is created

Swimming Pool Resource is built from more than seven years of hands-on work owning and operating a Northern California pool service company. That work covered residential and commercial pools, routine maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, startups, green-pool recoveries, filter service, chlorine washes, and acid washes.

Each guide starts with the same approach used on a service route: identify the symptom, rule out the simple causes, test before adjusting, and make one change at a time. Recommendations are written for pool owners who want practical answers without skipping important safety limits.

Editorial and testing standards

  • Field experience is separated from manufacturer instructions and current safety guidance.
  • Product recommendations focus on accuracy, durability, maintenance time, compatibility, and long-term cost.
  • Safety-sensitive advice points readers back to product labels and qualified professionals when electrical, gas, structural, or major plumbing work is involved.
  • Articles are reviewed and updated when equipment, guidance, or better supporting material becomes available.

Start with the pool-owner roadmap, browse the equipment guides, or use the problem guides to work from the symptom you can see.

Chris also brings the perspective of a Certified Pool Operator who has explained technical decisions directly to homeowners. The goal is to show not only what to check, but why the order matters, which readings to record, and where a do-it-yourself repair should stop.
