What chlorine is doing

Free chlorine is the active sanitizer available to control bacteria and oxidize contaminants. The correct target depends on the pool, stabilizer level, sanitizer system, local requirements, and product instructions.

Calculate from actual pool volume

Use the sanitizer label and the correct pool volume. Measure carefully and avoid adding extra “for good measure.”

Add separately and circulate

Follow the label’s application method and safety instructions. Never combine products or pour one product through residue from another.

Retest before the next change

Allow the stated circulation time, then retest. Record the dose and result so the pool’s normal demand becomes clear.
